Christmas is coming!
Tomorrow is our first Christmas event of the year. We’re singing carols at The Coppice Inn, Lanner, as part of the village’s Christmas lights festivities. The lights are being switched on at 7pm in The Square, and we’ll be starting about 7.30, to give people the time to wend their way down the long length of Lanner to The Coppice.
Here comes another one! – Stithians Show on Monday
After an enjoyable concert last night at Chacewater Church, we have another concert on Monday 14 July. We’ve been invited to sing at the annual Stithians Show concert which takes place on the Showground in the evening, with St Stithians Band. The concert starts at 8pm and tickets will be available on the door.
We’re looking forward to our next concert – Chacewater Church, 11 July, 7.30pm
Cardiff – Here we come!
Our next concert takes us to the great city of Cardiff, a place the choir has not yet visited. We go as the guests of Cardiff Male Choir for a summer concert entitled “Together in Harmony”
The concert is on Friday 30th May at St Teilo’s Church, Whitchurch.
We certainly relish the prospect of sampling the delights of this great city – the architecture, the sights and sounds and, of course, the shopping!
We really look forward to meeting the gentlemen of this highly regarded Welsh choir and to sharing some fine music with them and their team. We are particularly indebted to their accompanist who agreed to play for us since our dear George will not be with us. No doubt the highlight for us will be singing Trelawny and the Welsh Anthem – singing in Welsh is a newly acquired skill!

A new look – summer has arrived!
The concert on Saturday with Tamar Valley was very enjoyable, with some lovely and moving performances by both choirs and the soloists. The evening included some amusing stories by Adrian Wilton, the compere, who had the audience in stitches on a couple of occasions.
It was also the first outing of our new purple uniform tops – our summer look – which is a bit cooler than the red and black worn in the winter. We received several compliments on the new look and also on the singing, which Bea has described as some of the best we’ve produced.
Our next concert

Our next concert, in Okehampton on Saturday 12 April, with Tamar Valley Male Voice Choir, fast approaches. It’s in aid of the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (R.A.B.I.), which provides a lot of support for farming communities. We’re looking forward to an enjoyable evening, and although it will be a little strange without George on the piano, we are privileged to be joined by our good friend Roger Wills as accompanist.
Our part of the programme will include – Whenever I’m here with you, As long as I have music, Across the skies, Bring him home, Where is love?, Lord bless you and keep you, Weep no more, Alexander’s ragtime band, You’ll never walk alone.
Alongside our pieces, there will be various (as yet unknown) items by TMVC, soloists, a duet and a joint performance of Morte Christe at the end.
The concert starts at 7.30pm in Fairplace Church, Okehampton (directions to the church can be found here).
